sound analysis

Image
  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: -In Rue's death scene, there's music in the background that only the audience hears (non-diegetic sound) while Katniss picks flowers. This type of sound is used to make scenes sadder or happier. In this case, it makes the audience feel more connected and upset. If there was a happy soundtrack during Rue's death, it wouldn't have the same effect. -When Katniss sings the willow song to Rue, everyone, including the audience, hears the music (diegetic sound). This type of sound is more impactful for the characters in the movie, making the scene more emotional and meaningful. It lets us understand different perspectives in emotional moments, making the acting more powerful.

Sound video feedback and learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. -You’ve definitely understood parallel and contrapuntal sound – the first section is clearly parallel and the switch is clear at the halfway point. -The issue here is that you haven’t really met the brief which was to combine a collage of images or videos together. This is simply two clips placed next to each other with one soundtrack. It does demonstrate the knowledge but doesn’t contain the effort or editing that the brief suggested. -Meeting the brief is absolutely crucial in your actual coursework so you need to learn from these mini practical projects in order to avoid under performance in the 30% coursework element. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. -WWW: -Good use of sound -Good editing skills -Good knowledge of parallel and contrapuntal sound  -It was one minute long  -EBI: -The brief was to put an combine images or videos together, which you hav

The protagonist is made to show off his badge and pistol using the light High key lighting for a realistic effect Strong back light Low key lighting soft lighting  filler for a mysterious, enigmatic effect (trying to make her seem mysterious) 2) Fil

blog feedback

-WWW: You’ve got some good work on your blog including the most difficult piece of work so far – the practical mise-en-scene recreation. I like the points you make in your learner response and your summary of mise-en-scene. However, there is also some missing work here so we need to use this as a lesson in getting work fully complete. -EBI: Make sure you check the following and email me when everything is fully up-to-date: -your film poster task also doesn’t really do what I wanted you to do. The idea was to analyse each poster and suggest what it might be communicating about narrative or audience (even if you don’t suggest the real answer). Getting a summary of each film from the internet basically makes this pointless. Over time, your ability to analyse media texts (particularly unseen texts like these film posters) will be crucial for the 70% exam section of the course. -LR: Complete the missing/unfinished work and post it to your blog. -Reflect on your first month of Film & TV

mise en scene analysis

  1) Find a distinctive   still image   and write an analysis of the mise-en-scene. Use each of the aspects you've learned in the lesson. -The windows of his car have bullets holes in them, which may show that bad guys are after him and are trying to kill him. The man in the far right corner with a gun has connotations that he is the bad guy trying to kill the innocent man driving the car. The gold light shining on the man in the car shows him to be the main character and he is a nice man as he is so is the centre of attention. The serious facial expression on his face also promises the audience drama and action. 2) Find  TWO  film or TV extracts on YouTube from different genres (e.g. horror, sci-fi, costume drama). Embed them in your blogpost and write a comparison of the mise-en-scene in each. -The first clip is a horror film, and the clips the little doll which appears to be a child's toy is actually not a child's toy but instead a violent and aggressive toy, which we kn

Mise-en-scene recreation: Learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full. -N ice choice  of scene and clear thought has gone into the mise-en-scene.in particular  co-ordinating multiple   actor s  is not easy. -Specifically on costume ,the shoes close-up are important in communicating characters/ stereotypes  and this   could be more faithful to original9not easy to do though!) -Some good camera work and editing/sound in recreating the original. 2) Type up a summary of the feedback you have had from the rest of the class - bullet points is fine. -Good acting and movement -Good choice of location -Good  dialogue -Accurate angles -Good lighting -Costume's could have been better-especially shoes -Better running -T he scene where the teacher walks out changes meaning-improve that 3) Use all the feedback you've been given to write your own self-assessment of your video using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If...)  WWW: -I have the perfect concept and have chosen the appropriate subject to make
